What is the idea behind Markdown?
- You format your text as you write or afterwards by using specific characters
- It is easy to make lists, headings and insert links
- The document is saved as simple text (txt) and can be understood by any computer (Windows or Mac). You don’t need a specific application to be able to read the document.
- Even if the text contains some formatting code it is easy to read as such (not so much peculiar code as in HTML)
- The text can be converted into various formats for printing or publishing to a website or blog
Ulysses is a very well designed writing app for Mac and iOS (iPhone and iPad) that works with Markdown. The content for this blog is in fact written in Ulysses. 🙂
